Contrast and HDR: OLED's Structural Advantage

With a native contrast ratio considered infinite (each pixel switches off individually), OLED remains unmatched in HDR on dark content — an edge that Mini-LED, even with thousands of local-dimming zones, can't fully close.

  • Measured response time: 0.03 ms (gray-to-gray)
  • VRR (FreeSync/G-Sync) operating range: 48 to 165 Hz
  • Full-screen brightness: ~250 cd/m² versus 1,000+ cd/m² on Mini-LED
  • Built-in anti burn-in mitigations: pixel shifting, logo dimming

For mostly gaming use in dim environments, OLED wins outright. For mixed desktop use with prolonged static windows, Mini-LED remains the safer long-term choice.
